Hi there, Great site. I just got in last night from a church rededication of the First Baptist Church, Weogufka, Al. The land for the church and cemetery was donated by Ben Callaway, my ggGrandfather. A wonderful service, singing, and great food on the grounds of the church. People have put a lot of work into renovating this wonderful old church that was built in 1848. I met some great relatives I never knew I had before this trip. My grandmother was Ida Cleophas Callaway. Her father was Newton Joe Callaway, son of William McWhorter Callaway. William McWhorter's father, Matthew D. Callaway moved from Georgia( Henry and Jasper County area) to Scott county, Ms. before 1850. After the Civil War Matthew and Wm. McWhorter moved their families to Tx. Matthew's father was William W. Callaway who died (according to a family bible) in 1860. As far as I know, he never left Ga. Have been stuck at this point in my Callaway lineage for years. HELP!
